Biography of The Marchant Family and
the birth of Southwest Sunshine

The Marchant family originated in the Big Horn Basin area of Montana and Wyoming around the turn of the century. For decades they learned to cultivate the land for medicinal use from the Crow Indians. There they gathered Arnica Flowers and other Herbs and made it into a "GEL" that was applied to the skin to heal burns, wounds, and irritations and soften dry skin.

As a young boy, Bret Marchant learned "the old ways" from the Crow Indians, on how to prepare the curative properties found from the Herbs.

In 1972 the Marchant Family moved to Arizona and continued to use the herbal "Gel" for problem skin. Each summer the family would return to Montana and pick Arnica flowers to bring home and in their kitchen they made the herbal Gel. Not only was this used for the family, but gifts for friends too.

Because the herbal "Gel" was found to be more effective than any other product available in the stores, Bret's father took their formula and went to an organic chemist to develop the herbal Gel into a complete skin care system for men women and children.

Bret felt that by eliminating the middleman, expensive packaging and advertising, he could package the products at a very low price that everyone could afford! Then he took his products direct to the local out-door market and there he told and re-told his history to anyone who would listen. Every weekend he, or a member of his family, was there demonstrating and telling the story…

Sales continued to increase and people returned with endless stories of how his products produced amazing results for everyone in the family. Bret soon became a local tradition. The winter visitors and locals alike loved his herbal skin care products, and of course the price. They wanted to find his products not only at this little market, but also in their area - their hometown. Bret could not offer the same price if his products were sold in stores. So he and his family experimented by expanding and attended various events throughout the Valley. This method worked. But the request continued for more and more coverage.
